Aunt Pearl's Cabled Baby Blanket

I was asked by a customer if I could knit up a baby blanket for her new little niece that will be born in a few weeks. I wrote back and said that I would love to knit up a baby blanket for her new little niece.

I then went looking for a cute baby blanket pattern online, as I didn't have any at that time. I found this cute pattern calle "Aunt Pearl's Cabled Baby Blanket". I love knitting cables and thought this would be a great blanket to knit up.

I then printed out a copy of the pattern, wrote down the yarn to look for in the store, then I went shopping. After finding the yarn I would need I came home and started knitting. I soon found that my knitting gauge was off a little bit because I knit tight and should have gone to a larger needle. However, I figured that since it was only off by 6 inches in the wideth it really wouldn't matter a whole lot. The yarn I was using "Red Heart White Acrylic" was stretchy.

I continued knitting on this blanket and on March 6th I had 24 1/4 inches in the length, before knitting the last 15 rows in the garter stitch. The total length came to 26 1/4 inches. So the blanket measured 23 x 26 1/4 inches. Yah, it was supposed to be 30 x 30 but with a baby blanket I don't think it really matters too much.

Next time I will check my guage a lot better though.
